I am a writer, media producer and university instructor. Passionate about my work, and driven to create, I work in multiple media. I teach documentary storytelling and video production at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) in British Columbia. I am a journalist with significant experience in public broadcasting with CBC Radio and Knowledge Network (BC) as well as print media. I have written and produced hundreds of hours of television and radio scripts for broadcast. I was the Producer of BC Now, a province-wide current affairs program for Knowledge Network television out of Burnaby; an associate producer/writer-broadcaster for CBC Radio in Toronto, Winnipeg and Vancouver. My writing has appeared in many publications including Cottage Life West, Cottage magazine, The Vancouver Sun, The Globe and Mail, The Georgia Straight and Cinema Canada magazine. I hold a B.A. in English (Honours, University of British Columbia), an M.A. in English (University of Toronto) and an M.A. in Journalism (Western University).
I have travelled extensively in Europe, Morocco, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada and lived in five Canadian provinces: Ontario, Manitoba, Newfoundland, New Brunswick and my home province of British Columbia.
Some of my best ideas come to me when travelling, walking, hiking, gardening, bicycling, canoeing or spending time with family and friends. Like gardening, long distance walks along a river or forest trail are a way to spend time on the land. Walking several kilometres, usually in early morning, gives me time for sustained contemplation and I invariably return with a restored sense of purpose, ready for the day. I am married and have a son.
